It’s Not About the Story: Using Art, Yoga and the Body in Trauma Treatment

Greetings!

We are looking forward to seeing you on Friday, October 31st at our workshop! Please plan to arrive between 9:10 AM and 9:25 AM for registration, coffee, tea and a light breakfast. We have a lot of exciting things in store for you and the workshop will begin promptly at 9:30 AM. Be sure to sign in and out as this is required to obtain your certificates for clock hours. If you plan to leave before 4 PM, a certificate with the adjusted clock hours will be mailed to you at a later date.

We will break for one hour at lunch (there are many restaurants and a Whole Foods nearby) and have a few brief breaks throughout the day. We will end at 4:30 PM.

A few notes about the logistics:

The location of the workshop is the Wisconsin Place Community Recreation Center 5311 Friendship Boulevard, Chevy Chase DC 20815. The phone number for the center is: 240-777-8088

For additional directions and a small map. The center is across the street from Mazza Gallery in the retail shopping area of Bloomingdales and located on the second level (Wisconsin Blvd level) of the shopping plaza.

Parking is available in the Whole Foods parking lot (below) with an entrance on Friendship Blvd. The daily rate is $12, less if you purchase your lunch there and get your parking ticket stamped. Metro is the Red Line Friendship Heights stop. When exiting metro, walk to the Bloomingdales/ Wisconsin Place exit. At street level you will head to the right, pass Sephora and White House/Black Market, Eileen Fisher (yes, great shopping here!) and take the first right (Cole Hahn on the left and a Wine Bar on the right) and then take the first left to the Community Center. The walkway to the Center has an arch and you will see several park benches in a grassy area on your right. Look for our sign at the entrance. We are meeting on the lower level of the Community Center. Go to your right past the front desk and take the elevator to lower level.

Remember to dress comfortably so that you can participate in the gentle stretching, moving and art making experientials. All yoga will be done from a sitting or standing position so a yoga mat is not needed for the activities.

We look forward to seeing you on Friday, October 31st
