Dr. Linda Kovalesky-McLaine received her doctorate from American University and her Masters degree in Social Work from the Catholic University. Linda has over 20 years experience as a clinician and has worked with children, adolescents and adults, couples and families.
Linda has experience addressing the following clinical issues: anxiety, depression, grief and trauma and relational issues. Linda has expertise in supporting military personnel and their families while working closely with national veterans’ resources. During the past seven years she has worked primarily with post-combat active duty veterans and/or their spouses addressing grief, relationship and re-integration issues.
Linda has participated in training at the National Center for PTSD and is a certified EMDR therapist. Her philosophy is strength and competency based: The client is the team leader and Linda brings specific skills and knowledge to accomplish mutually-established treatment goals. She uses a multi-sensory approach including music, sand tray and writing.
Linda has been a workshop facilitator and has presented both internationally and nationally on life events faced by military and the Department of State Families. She has also lectured on post-deployment issues at the United States Military Academy and at George Mason’s Law School and School of Social Work. She has served as the Community Liaison Office Coordinator of an American embassy and was the first Training Director of the Military Family Resource Center.
