Sandhya Nagabhushan, LGPC, CSAC

Sandhya Nagabhushan, LGPC, CSAC is a licensed professional counselor as well as a certified substance abuse specialist. Recently she became a CSAT-C (Certified Sex Addiction Therapist Candidate) and is able to both assess and treat both those struggling with sexual compulsivity and their partners. She maintains a private practice at the Integrative Psychotherapy Institute in Fairfax and works with adolescents and adults who struggle with a variety of difficulties including anxiety disorders, depression, bipolar disorder, addictions, personality disorders and relational difficulties.

As your therapist, Sandhya will help create a safe and supportive therapy environment and work with you collaboratively to both accurately assess your strengths as well as areas of struggle. She will develop a treatment plan with you to help you facilitate behavioral changes that more successfully meet your goals. Sandhya will help you look at the ways you have been currently coping with life’s problems and help you to develop new strategies from a strengths-based perspective.

Additionally, Sandhya has experience working as a sexual assault coordinator for local universities and has played a pivotal role in counseling students who have been impacted by stalking, dating violence, and trauma. Sandhya is also published in the field of counseling with a recent article studying the sociocultural factors that influence interracial dating on college campuses.

Sandhya uses a CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) framework but integrates various therapy modalities into her work with clients.Sandhya has completed EMDR training and employs this powerful tool in her work with trauma clients.
